Doesn't have the lock nut that prevents the turn table from freely turning on its own every time you're frosting a cake. So you can't decorate on it without one hand holding on to the table, but i researched and found that you can fix this by rolling up a piece of plastic wrap into a string and wrapping it around the part that connects the table to the base. Now you can decorate with both hands to guide the piping bag. Otherwise, no way.

The very best companies (and decorators) use ONLY THIS CAKE STAND for their beautiful cakes. The cheaper ones, over time, grow crooked, lopsided, and unstable. This is the "workhorse" of cake decorating! I was THRILLED to get my own! This is one of the RARE times in life that you only have to make THIS purchase ONCE: it will last you a lifetime, and you can pass it on to the next generation of cake decorators.

The top comes off, the top never truly sits level because of the way the two pieces fit. It turns nicely, it's hard to move tho because of the two pieces. And it slips all over the counter. There's no grip on the bottom of this. Also the grip pad that comes on top wears out after a couple uses, it is not expense to replace but tedious and i kept forgetting, which just becomes another annoying todo, i began making my own but again, it just becomes a little tedious. Would be nice if there was even a 3 inch diameter gripper on top built in. Also, for years when i scrape my cakes, grey metallic something comes off (i use a metal scraper) so when I'm sweeping around the base, i see a buildup of grey on the frosting (at the bottom) that's being discarded. Just thought it's weird. Maybe it's just the metal scraping the metal.
I'm actually buying a different turntable today because I'm so sick of dealing with this one. It's just not for me

I ordered this because I knew it to be a good brand (I had one before). It arrived without any oil/grease in it. It made a scraping sound, and was warped. They replaced it, and the second one was the the same. I bought mineral oil, which helped some with the sound, but is still warped and scrapes. Maybe they were so old that the oil dried up? They do not accept returns, so I am stuck with two that are warped. Bad for cake decorating.

Unable to return!!! Don't buy anything that you can't return! This turntable has only a pin and no bearing... wish I would have read that one review that could have spared me this headache. Ordered several to try and prefer another from same company that feels sturdier and is less heavy. Now I can't return!! Argh!! Will put Amazon in doghouse for a quarter for not making bigger the return policy deviation from the regular one!

I purchased this for my wife who's recently taking up baking as a hobby. She had most of the necessary tools for making fancy cakes but this was missing from the tool set. This is a nice heavy turntable that makes decorating cakes a lot easier, it spins pretty effortlessly. This construction on this unit is solid, the base is incredibly heavy and well built, designed to last. The turntable is a separate piece that lists of the base easily. Both pieces are easy to clean, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a standard classics cake decorating turntable.

The turntable did arrive when promised and packaged well. I like the vintage look of the base. However, the turntable is scratched on the top and underneath. I was also charged more on the invoice than the price on the listing. It was pretty scratchy sounding at first but 3 in 1 oil helped. It seems to spin nicely but it does look preowned.

This cake stand is all around good quality and it functions well except for one thing. The cast iron base keeps it nice and stable and the top turns smoothly and evenly for easy decorating. The reason I'm giving it two stars is the rusting I experienced after having washed it just twice. The only care instructions are 'do not immerse in water'. I only ever wiped down the base and it's fine but the turntable, which gets frosting and stuff on it needed to be washed under running water. Just this hand washing under running water caused it to rust underneath where the peg that sits on the base attaches. I decided to return it and go for a plastic model instead only to discover this item is not eligible for return. I was able to contact Amazon and they made good on it but I'm disappointed in the product itself. I've tried using it since the rusting and the action of turning it creates a fine rust power that goes into the base and makes a mess. I wish they would coat those exposed parts or use a non rusting metal.

This was my third attempt at buying a cake turntable. While the base is heavy it has no non slip bottom, the turntable itself doesnt have a smooth action and the one i got actually rotated eccentrically which is no use at all! So disappointed.
